WOLF WOLF THAT’S THE SOUND OF DA POLICE. Episode 16 is an interview with experimental author and hip-hop fan TM Wolf. His book ‘Sound’ has just come out on Faber in the UK and is a cornucopia of sounds, ambient and forefront, noisy and quiet, internal and external. It’s a brilliant coming of age tale told in the most bold way I’ve ever seen a debut be told.

We talk about ‘Sound’ – how it came together, how it was written and… hip-hop. This is an episode for hip-hop fans. We talk about music journalism, Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, Curren$y, mixtapes, Wu Tang’s first album. It’s a nerd-out. All with authentic New York taxicab noises in the background.

So, here we are again… The Subaltern Podcast – Author Nikesh Shukla talks to other writers and authors and novelists about stuff, from writing to r’n’b. It’s the anti-panel discussion.
